Birth of a Legend - Patek Philippe

A Story of Patek Philippe

In 1839, Antoine Norbert de Patek (a salesman) and François Czapek (a watch maker) founded Patek, Czapek & Cie in Geneva.

At the Universal Exhibition of 1844 in Paris, Antoine Norbert de Patek met Jean Adrien Philippe (another watchmarker), the inventor of a pocket watch with stem winding and hand-setting.

In 1845, Patek Czapek & Co was dissolved, and Antoine Norbert de Patek, Jean Adrien Philippe and Vincent Gostowski founded, Patek & Co in Geneva.

In 1851, the three men changed the company's name to Patek Philippe & Co.
